The face-to-face consultation is the surgical examination before the planned operation, during which we review the patient's medical history, associated diseases and discuss the surgical options. Duration: 30-40 minutes.

Before the telephone and subsequent personal consultation, prospective patients must be made aware of the following:

Weight loss surgery can be performed if:

• body mass index (BMI)>40, or BMI>35 and an associated disease is present

• the patient is willing to change their lifestyle

• the patient is between 18 and 65 years old

Reasons for exclusion:

• psychiatric diseases, psychosis

• alcohol, medication or drug addiction in the last 12 months

• pregnancy

• diseases with limited life expectancy

• complex internal medicine and metabolic diseases, which result in a significant surgical risk

​Weight loss surgery requires careful consideration in the following cases:

• limited mobility

• age over 65 years

• gastroesophageal ulcer, varicose veins

• preliminary surgeries of the stomach and esophagus

• Crohn's disease

• portal hypertension

• liver cirrhosis

• prior pulmonary embolism or lung diseases requiring oxygen treatment

Having considered this, we will decide together which surgery is the most suitable for you.
